Ilene Siringo, O.D., is a 2000 graduate of the State University of New York, State College of Optometry. In 1996, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania. While an undergraduate, Dr. Siringo participated in basic science research to combat HIV. She raised money to fight the same by performing a piano recital, and participating in the AIDS ride from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.
Dr. Siringo has extensive experience in the fields of contact lens care and pre-and post-operative management of refractive surgery. From 2002-2003, she held a staff position at Darnall Army Community Hospital, in the Department of Ophthalmology, as the sole optometrist co-managing thousands of soldiers undergoing LASIK and PRK. She has held numerous private practice positions, concentrating in primary eye care and contact lens fitting, both in New York City and Central Texas.
Dr. Siringo has participated in an eye care mission through the Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity in Nicaragua. She is an avid chef, classical guitar player, painter, and also enjoys running, bicycling, and knitting. Dr. Siringo has one son with Dr. Frank Siringo, whom she met while at a hospital rotation in West Point, NY in 1999, and married in 2001.
